Description
This Thermal Mixer Valve (TMV) can be used with a Thermal Store Cylinder.
It utilises the less common L-style pattern that was fitted on Thermal Store units until 2008. Since then, we have exclusively used the new style T pattern for our Thermal Store Cylinders. This was due to a change in supplier, rather than for functional reasons.
Features
- 25 Litres per minute maximum potential flow rate.
- Temperature Range 30°C – 70°C
- Complete with 3 x Fiber Washers
What is a Thermal Mixer Valve?
TMVs accurately control water temperatures for bathing, showering, hand-washing and bidets. Their purpose is to preserve the desired water temperature regardless of any alterations in incoming water pressures or flow rates. By contrast, a mechanical mixing valve cannot adjust to changes in supply temperature, pressure or flow rate.
TMV’s can also be described as Thermostatic Mixing Valve.
If I am installing a new bathroom in an existing residence, do I have to fit a TMV?
No, the requirement to ensure that the temperature of the water delivered to a bath is no more than 48oC temperature applies only to baths in new homes (including those created by a change of use) not in existing homes. However, people may want to consider the potential safety benefits of fitting a TMV, or some other means to prevent scalding, when they are adding a bath or having an existing one replaced or repaired, particularly where occupants are known to include those most at risk from scalding, that is, the very young and the very old.
